Where to Start Depending on What You Need

Start here if your boiler has just broken down

Check three things before you ring anyone: the pressure gauge, the display, and whether other gas appliances still work. A pressure reading below roughly one bar often points to a leak or a failed expansion vessel, a fault code on the display narrows the fault considerably, and a whole-house loss of gas is a supply issue rather than a boiler issue.

Then ring 07523 738285 with the boiler make, model and any code showing. Our repair guides explain the faults we see most often across Merseyside, what is usually repairable and where a replacement genuinely is the better spend.

Start here if you are pricing a new boiler

Our cost guides explain what actually moves the price of a new boiler: the appliance chosen, whether the flue route and gas supply need work, whether the system needs cleansing, and whether the job is a straight swap or a conversion from a tank-fed system. Boilers start at £1,299 fully fitted with a FREE Gas Safety Certificate included.

The guides also cover sizing, which is where most quotes go wrong. Output is set by bathrooms, radiator count, hot-water demand and, for a combi, measured incoming mains flow. An oversized boiler short-cycles and wastes gas for years, so the quote worth trusting is the one that measured something before naming a figure.

Start here if you are a landlord or letting agent

Landlords need a gas safety inspection of every gas appliance at the property each year, with the record given to tenants and held on file. Our gas safety guides explain what the inspection covers, what happens when an appliance fails, and how to keep certificates from lapsing between tenancies.

If you manage several properties across Liverpool, Knowsley or St Helens, grouping them geographically keeps visits efficient and the renewal dates predictable.

Local guides, town by town

Several of the guides below are written for specific towns, including St Helens, Widnes, Halewood, Eccleston Park and Sutton Manor, because the property stock genuinely changes what the job involves. A Victorian terrace with a chimney breast flue route has almost nothing in common with a 1970s estate house running a gravity-fed cylinder.

If you want the local coverage page rather than the advice article, every town we work in has its own page under areas we cover, with the common heating problems we find there and how we price the work.

How we write these guides

Everything here is written from work we have actually carried out across Liverpool, Knowsley, Prescot, Halton and St Helens. We do not publish invented statistics, borrowed manufacturer copy or price ranges we cannot stand behind, and where the honest answer is that it depends on the property we say so and explain what it depends on.

If a guide does not answer your question, ring 07523 738285 during our hours of Mon–Sun, 8:30am–5:30pm and ask an engineer directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a new boiler cost in Liverpool?

New boilers start from £1,299 fully fitted, including a FREE Gas Safety Certificate. The final figure depends on the appliance and the work needed at the property, and it is agreed in writing before anything begins.

How often should a boiler be serviced?

Once a year. An annual service keeps the appliance safe and efficient, catches small faults before winter, and is normally a condition of keeping the manufacturer warranty valid.

Is it worth repairing an old boiler?

Sometimes. If the fault is a pump, a valve or a sensor and the appliance is otherwise sound, a repair is usually the better spend. We tell you honestly which side of that line your boiler falls on.

Do you cover my town?

We cover Liverpool, Knowsley, Prescot, Halton and St Helens plus the wider Merseyside towns. Ring 07523 738285 if you are nearby and not listed.
