Overview

## What This Service Is, and Who It Is For

### What it is
This page is a pricing guide rather than a product page: it sets out, item by item, the things that genuinely change what a new boiler costs to fit, so you can look at any quote you are holding and understand why the number is what it is. There is one figure we will put in writing here, boilers fully fitted from £1,299, but beyond that the honest answer is that cost depends on the specifics of your property, and we would rather explain the variables clearly than invent a price table that does not reflect your actual job.

### Who it is for
This is for people who are shopping around, comparing two or three quotes, and want to know why one figure is higher than another before they choose. It is also for anyone budgeting ahead of a boiler failure, who wants a realistic sense of what could affect the price rather than a single number that may not apply to their house at all.

### When you need it
Read this before you get any quote, not after, so you know what questions to ask when an engineer is stood in your hallway or kitchen. It is also worth reading a few months before your existing boiler is likely to fail, so a sudden breakdown does not force a rushed decision without understanding what is driving the figure you are given.

### Why it needs a registered engineer
Boiler pricing has a reputation for being opaque, quoted as a single number with no breakdown, and that makes it hard to tell a fair price from an inflated one, or a genuinely cheap price from one that is missing half the job. We would rather you understood the cost drivers and asked us direct questions than simply trusted a number on a page, ours or anyone else's.

The cost of leaving it

## What Happens If This Gets Left
A boiler price you cannot break down into its parts is a price you cannot properly compare, and that is exactly how people end up paying more than they should, or less than the job actually requires.

### Risks and escalating costs

- A quote with no itemisation makes it impossible to spot that flushing, a filter, or removal of the old boiler simply is not included, until an extra invoice appears mid-job.
- Choosing purely on the lowest headline figure often means choosing the quote that has left the most out, not the quote from the most competitive engineer.
- A verbal price with nothing in writing gives you no reference point if the final bill does not match what you were told at the door.
- Not understanding why a like-for-like swap is cheaper than a relocation or conversion leaves you unable to judge whether a higher quote reflects genuinely more work.
- Skipping a fixed written price altogether means you carry all the financial risk if the job turns out to be more involved than first thought.

### Mistakes we are called out to fix

- Ringing round for a single number over the phone instead of asking for a home visit and a written, itemised quote.
- Assuming the cheapest quote and the most expensive quote are pricing the same job, when they are very often not.
- Not asking whether the price includes a system flush, a magnetic filter, condensate pipework and disposal of the old boiler.
- Judging cost purely by brand name rather than by what your property and hot water demand actually require.
- Agreeing to work starting before a price is confirmed in writing, which removes your ability to hold anyone to a figure later.

Our process

## How We Carry Out the Work, Step by Step

- 1
### Step 1: Free home visit before any figure is given
We look at the current boiler, the flue route, the gas supply, the pipework and, where relevant, the mains water pressure, because a price given without seeing any of this is a guess dressed up as a quote.

- 2
### Step 2: We identify what would change the cost
Boiler size and type, whether the flue route is straightforward or needs extending, whether the gas supply needs upgrading for a larger output, whether the boiler is moving position, and whether a cylinder or system cleanse is involved, are all checked and discussed with you.

- 3
### Step 3: One fixed written price, itemised
You receive a single figure that already accounts for everything the job needs, broken down so you can see what you are paying for, agreed before any work starts and not revised afterwards.

- 4
### Step 4: Installation to the agreed scope
The job is carried out to exactly what was quoted. If anything is found once work begins that would change the price, for example unexpected pipework condition, we stop and talk to you before continuing, not after.

- 5
### Step 5: Certification included in the price
A free Gas Safety Certificate, the Benchmark commissioning record and warranty registration are part of the fixed price, not optional extras billed on top.

What you get

## The Difference It Makes

### You know what you are comparing
An itemised written quote lets you check any other quote you hold against a clear list of what is and is not included, rather than comparing two mystery totals.

### No invoice creep
The figure agreed before we start is the figure you pay, because the visit and assessment happen before the price is written, not after.

### Fully fitted from £1,299
A genuine starting price for a straightforward like-for-like installation, quoted honestly as a starting point rather than a figure most jobs never actually get.

### Free Gas Safety Certificate included
Every installation comes with a free Gas Safety Certificate as standard, at no extra line on the invoice.

### Immediate installation where needed
If your boiler has already failed we can move quickly, and the same fixed written price principle applies regardless of how soon the work is happening.

### Local knowledge of Merseyside housing
Years of quoting across Liverpool, Knowsley, Halton and St Helens means we recognise common flue, gas supply and pipework issues in local terraces and semis at the survey stage, not halfway through the job.

In detail

## What Actually Changes a New Boiler Price
The single biggest factor in new boiler cost is how much of the existing setup can stay as it is. A boiler going back in exactly the same spot, on the same flue route, in the same size and type as the one it replaces, involves the least labour and the fewest materials, which is why like-for-like swaps sit at the lower end of any price range. The moment any of those three things change, position, flue route or boiler type, the job picks up extra pipework, extra flue materials and extra time, and the price reflects that honestly rather than arbitrarily.

Boiler size and type matter because a larger output combi, or a system boiler paired with an unvented cylinder, costs more in parts and takes longer to commission than a smaller combi swap. This is not the installer padding the bill, it is a genuinely bigger appliance with more pipework connections, more controls to set up and, in the case of a cylinder, an entirely separate component to install, test and certify. We size the boiler to your actual heat loss and hot water demand rather than defaulting to the biggest option, which keeps cost proportionate to what the house needs.

Flue route is a frequent hidden cost driver. A flue that can run straight through an external wall a short distance from the boiler is inexpensive to fit. A flue that needs to travel a long horizontal run, pass through a loft space, or exit at high level requiring access equipment, needs more materials, more fixings and more time on site, and building regulations set limits and requirements on flue length and termination position that we have to work within regardless of budget.

Gas supply upgrades come up more than people expect, particularly in older Merseyside terraces where the existing gas pipework was sized for a smaller, less demanding appliance decades ago. If a new boiler's output needs a higher gas flow rate than the existing pipe can deliver, some or all of the supply pipework needs upgrading to meet current standards, and that is additional work that has to be priced honestly rather than glossed over and discovered as a fault later.

Moving the boiler to a new position, converting a tank-fed system to a combi, adding scaffolding or access equipment for a difficult flue termination, fitting new controls beyond a basic thermostat, or carrying out a full system cleanse on a system with a lot of old sludge in it, all add cost in proportion to the extra work involved. None of these are hidden extras in a fixed written quote from us; they are simply named, priced and agreed before the job starts, which is the only honest way to price work whose scope varies from house to house.

### Residential and commercial properties
We quote homes across Liverpool, Knowsley, Halton and St Helens, and the housing mix locally, from solid-wall Victorian terraces to 1930s semis and post-war estate housing, is exactly why we do not publish price bands: two houses on the same street can need genuinely different work depending on their existing gas run, flue access and pipework condition. Tell us your property type and roughly how old the current system is when you get in touch, and we will flag likely cost factors before we even arrive for the home visit.

### Variations of this service

- Straightforward like-for-like swap

Same type, same position, same flue route: the lowest-cost version of the job because pipework and flue disturbance are minimal.

- Upsizing output or changing boiler type

Moving to a larger combi or converting to a system boiler with a cylinder adds parts, connections and commissioning time proportionate to the extra capability.

- Extended or repositioned flue

Longer runs, high-level terminations or access equipment add materials and labour, and are priced against the specific route your property requires.

- Gas supply and pipework upgrades

Where the existing gas pipe cannot support a new boiler's flow rate, or old pipework needs replacing, this is scoped and quoted as a distinct part of the job.

### Materials, parts and equipment

- Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi and Heatline boilers
- Magnetic system filter included as standard
- Condensate pipework installed to current building regulations
- Copper and press-fit pipework with full-bore isolation valves
- Central heating inhibitor and full system flush where needed
- Room thermostats and programmable controls

Questions

## New Boiler Cost Guide: Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a new boiler cost in Liverpool?New boilers are fully fitted from £1,299. The exact figure for your home depends on boiler size and type, the flue route, whether the gas supply needs any work, and whether the boiler is staying in the same position. We give you a fixed written price after a home visit, before any work starts.

Why do boiler quotes vary so much between companies?Quotes vary because they are often pricing different scopes of work under the same heading. Some include the system flush, filter, controls and certification as standard; others quote a bare appliance and add those items later. Always ask for an itemised written quote so you can compare like for like.

What makes a boiler installation more expensive? The main factors are a larger or different type of boiler than the one being replaced, an extended or repositioned flue, gas supply pipework that needs upgrading, moving the boiler to a new location, adding a cylinder for a system boiler conversion, a heavier system cleanse, and any access equipment such as scaffolding.

Is a cheaper quote always a worse deal? Not necessarily, but it is worth checking exactly what is included. A lower price that leaves out the flush, filter, controls or certification is not automatically cheaper once those are added back in. Ask for an itemised breakdown before deciding.

Do you charge for a quote or home visit? The home visit and written quote are free, and there is no obligation to go ahead once you have it. We would rather assess the job properly than give you a rough figure over the phone that turns out to be wrong.

Will the price change once work has started? No. The figure you agree in writing before we start is the figure you pay. If something unexpected is found once work begins, we stop and talk it through with you before doing anything that would change the scope or the price.

Does the price include a Gas Safety Certificate?Yes. Every new boiler installation includes a free Gas Safety Certificate as standard, along with the Benchmark commissioning record and manufacturer warranty registration.

Which areas do you provide quotes for?We survey and quote new boiler installations across Liverpool, Knowsley, Halton and St Helens, including Huyton, Prescot, Widnes, Runcorn, Crosby, Woolton and Newton-le-Willows. We take calls seven days a week between 8:30am and 5:30pm, and we can usually book a home visit within a day or two.
