Inside the work

## How These Installations and Repairs Were Carried Out
These are photographs of our own work across Liverpool, Knowsley, Prescot, Halton and St Helens: combi boilers fitted in kitchens and utility rooms, copper pipework re-run properly rather than patched, magnetic filters added to protect a new appliance, radiators and thermostatic valves fitted and balanced, and controls set up and explained before we leave.

There is nothing staged here and nothing borrowed from a manufacturer brochure. Look at the pipework rather than the boiler: neat, supported, correctly routed pipework is the part of an installation that tells you how the rest of the job was done.

### What a straight boiler replacement involves
A like-for-like replacement in a Liverpool semi or terrace usually takes a single day. The old appliance is isolated, drained and removed, the gas and water connections are checked and upgraded where they are undersized, the flue is renewed and correctly terminated, and the new boiler is hung, connected and commissioned.

Before the new appliance goes on, the system is cleansed where it needs it and inhibitor added, because a modern condensing boiler fitted onto a sludged circuit will fail early. Where we recommend a magnetic filter, you will see it in these photographs on the return pipework, catching the debris that would otherwise end up in the heat exchanger.

At the end, combustion readings are taken and recorded, the system is balanced, the controls are set up with you rather than at you, the manufacturer warranty is registered on your behalf, and the paperwork is handed over including the FREE Gas Safety Certificate.

### Converting a tank-fed system to a combi
Plenty of homes across Knowsley, St Helens and Halton still run gravity-fed systems with a cold water tank in the loft and a hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard. Converting to a combi frees up the cupboard, removes the tanks and gives hot water on demand, but it is a bigger job than a swap and we price it as such.

The tanks and cylinder come out, redundant pipework is capped and removed, new pipework is run to the boiler position, and a new flue route is formed. We measure the incoming mains pressure and flow rate first, because a combi heats water straight from the mains and a weak supply will disappoint no matter which appliance is on the wall.

In larger properties with two bathrooms in simultaneous use, a system boiler with an unvented cylinder is often the better answer. We say so at survey stage rather than fitting the wrong appliance and hoping.

### Radiators, controls and getting rooms to actual temperature
A cold back bedroom is rarely a boiler problem. It is usually a sizing or balancing problem: radiators too small for the room, valves never balanced after an extension was added, or a circuit where the nearest radiators take everything before the far ones get a chance.

The radiator work in these photographs includes correctly sized replacements, thermostatic valves for room-by-room control, and heated towel rails in bathrooms. After fitting, the system is balanced and tested so every room reaches temperature rather than only the ones nearest the boiler.

The controls matter just as much. A programmer and thermostat set up properly, or smart controls where you want them, will save more gas over a winter than an extra kilowatt of boiler output ever will.

### Servicing, repairs and gas safety work
Some of these photographs show the inside of appliances during repairs: pumps, diverter valves, expansion vessels and heat exchangers, which is where most breakdown faults actually live. Diagnosing properly rather than fitting parts in hope is what keeps a repair bill honest.

On an annual service we work to the manufacturer's schedule, take and record combustion readings, check the flue and the seals, and flag small faults before they become winter breakdowns. Keeping the service record intact is also what keeps a manufacturer warranty valid.

For gas safety work, every appliance at the property is tested and recorded and the certificate is issued, same day wherever possible. Landlord CP12 paperwork goes to both landlord and agent digitally.

### How we price the work in these photographs
Every job here started with a survey and a fixed price agreed in writing. There are no hourly rates, so a job that takes longer than expected does not cost you more, and if something genuinely unforeseen appears we stop and agree it with you before carrying on.

New boilers start at £1,299 fully fitted with a FREE Gas Safety Certificate, and immediate installation is available. What moves the price is the appliance chosen, whether the flue route or gas supply needs work, and whether the job is a swap or a conversion. That is why we look at the property first rather than quoting from a call.

## Frequently Asked Questions
Are these photographs of your own installations?Yes. Every photograph on this page is work carried out by Harrison E Jones Heating across Liverpool, Knowsley, Prescot, Halton and St Helens.

How long does a boiler installation take? Most like-for-like replacements are completed in a single day. Converting a tank-fed system to a combi normally takes longer, and we give you the expected timescale in writing with the price.

Will you move my boiler to a different position?Often yes, and it is a common request when a kitchen is being refitted. Relocation involves new gas, water, condensate and flue routes, so we survey it and price it before committing.

Do you clean up afterwards?Dust sheets go down, the old appliance and packaging leave with us, and everything is cleared away before we go.

Can I see the work in progress at my own property?Yes. We explain what we are doing as we go, and we show you the readings and settings at handover rather than simply leaving a certificate behind.
